So I am starting this new blog with a review of a new place I went to last night in Kuwait City.
Called “Oriental Cuisine “ it’s a nice authentic Thai restaurant. Cute small place below a building called “City Suites”. You need to take a right
Funny thing about it is that the restaurant is divided into two parts. One of them was I am assuming the old one and the new one is pretty funky and upscale. They also had a couple of tables outside but I will get there later.
We were a group of five and were lucky to be seated very quickly. I would however recommend booking ahead or getting there early!! Telephone- +965 22470400
The ambiance in the new place is nice, and quaint. Clean but somehow the AC was not working.
Service was ok. Not good and it was definitely because of the crowd. The place seats about 60 odd people and the waiters couldn’t really help us with our selections. However I appreciate that they have a sheet with the numbers of each food item clearly marked with a box enabling you to choose what you want.
I am just going to list whatever we ordered along with the prices:
Item # 110 Thai-Style Barbecued Chicken –Char chilled Chicken with sweet barbecue sauce. Very tender but some pieces were over grilled leaving a much burnt tastes in my mouth. KWD 1.750
Item # 217 Green Papaya Salad-The salad was very very spicy. Thinly Shredded papaya with onion and lemon. KWD 1.500
Item # 302 Tom Yum Soup- The highlight of our dinner. Was delicious even though I don’t love this form of soup. It was a bit over spiced but was perfectly cooked. KWD 2.750
Item # 401 Chicken in Green Curry – The most delicious part of this meal. This should best be eaten with some steamed rice. KWD 1.750
Item # 610 Baked rice with vegetables- The rice was layered below the vegetables and also perfectly cooked. Delicious. KWD 2.000
Item # 626 Thai-Style Fried Vegetarian Noodles- EVEN though it was vegetarian it had eggs in these noodles. These noodle somehow all stuck together to form one big lump which somehow didn’t work for me. It was delicious though. KWD 1.750
Item # 632 Fried Noodles with Sea Food in Sauce- I did not like this particular dish. The fish was not properly cooked. And noodles were soggy as they were in a sauce. DID NOT like this dish. KWD 2.750
Item # 804 Iced Tea- Do give this a try as this was amazing. Very nice. Was served in two glasses one topped up with ice and second with the tea. Pour it together and this was amazing. KWD 1.000
Item # 812 Ginger Tea with Lime-Very delicious stuff. The drinks at this place were amazing. KWD 1.000
All in a good experience but and would definitely recommend this place for Thai food. I am going to give it a 7.5/10. Happy eating folks.
